Kanga Blue A Cappella
About Kanga Blue
Past to Present
Kanga Blue is the only student-led co-ed female-empowering a cappella group at the University of Akron in Akron, OH.
The group was founded during the Fall semester of 2010, as a result of a lack of opportunities for female singers. Dr. Dale Mugler, the Dean of the Honors College at the time, had the idea to start a new female a cappella group to give more opportunity to female-vocalists. This group would later be known as “Kanga-Blue.”
In April of 2014, the ladies of Kanga-Blue dropped the hyphen, performed their first bi-annual concert, and became recognized as an official student organization at the University of Akron.

In August of 2020, Kanga Blue A Cappella recorded their first ever song, Genetics by Kanga Blue, landing them on all the major platforms such as Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, and more.

As of 2021, Kanga Blue has expanded by moving from female-only to female-empowering, and they accept everyone for who they are!
