Open Auditions

The first round is an open audition. Anyone can come audition at our open auditions. There are typically two days of open auditions. Those who are auditioning should attend only one of these auditions. This audition will be held before the members of our Executive Committee. We ask that everyone auditioning is prepared to sing the verse and a chorus of any song they like (pop songs are great!) and the Star-Spangled Banner. We are also interested in seeing how well you can get into the music and perform. If you like beatboxing or are willing to learn, let us know about that too! We look forward to meeting you and hearing your voice!

The second round of auditions is an invitation-only callback.

After the first round of auditions, you may be invited to a second round!

If you were invited to a callback, it means that the Executive Committee

was impressed by your audition and wants to hear more! The open

audition focuses on your solo voice. Call-backs, on the other hand,

are held with other students auditioning for Kanga Blue. You will also

be auditioning in front of general members in addition to our Executive

Committee. During call-backs, you will be split up into parts. Each part

will go with a current member to learn their part of a small section of a

song. The groups will then come back and be split up again into small

groups that contain a person for each part. Then, each group will audition

one at a time. This audition allows us to see how quickly and how well

you learn, if you have a good attitude, how you balance and blend, and

how well you work on a team. The most important part of this audition is

how you perform. We look to see if you smile and move with the music.

A good stage presence will earn you some MAJOR bonus points! After

call-backs, Kanga Blue will announce who they will be inviting to join the

group via email.
